Star Destroyers are iconic vessels of the fictional Star Wars universe. The Imperial Star Destroyer, which first appears at the beginning of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, is "the signature vessel of the Imperial fleet".[1]
Imperial-class Star Destroyers appear in all three movies of the original Star Wars trilogy. The "Super Star Destroyer" Executor appears in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. A Tector-class Star Destroyer is briefly visible in Return of the Jedi. Venator-class Star Destroyers appear in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
In addition to their movie appearances, a variety of Star Destroyers appear throughout the Star Wars Expanded Universe in books, comics, and games. Some of the more prominent are the Victory class and several variations of Super Star Destroyers. Additionally, numerous model and toy versions of the Imperial-class Star Destroyer have been released. |
